If you are an 80s baby, you definitely know My Little Pony! These ponies with ‘cutie marks’ on their sides, show off different personalities and come in such amazing colours.

Infusing on of my favourite childhood toons, with my love for vibrant colours and accessories, I made these necklaces. This way I get to walk around wearing a piece of my childhood memories;

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Dangling from a long bronze chain necklace, these plastic ponies ponies are the center of attention (as they should be!) with plastic beads in shades of the rainbow (my rainbows always start with pink :3 ) to give it an extra ‘cute’ factor.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis is my personal piece. Took a plain white pony with a blue mane, and whipped out my stash of paint & decided to give new life to this pony.

& now I have a rainbow one with a peace symbol cutie mark;20140603_075110Now to test out just how lasting the paint is *fingers crossed.

CDs are slowly dying off and becoming a thing of the past, leaving us with a box-load at home at our disposal. Instead of throwing them away, we’ve come up with a good way to recycle them into gorgeous statement accessories. With the holographic part of the CD and its vivid rainbow effect that change and glisten when the light hits, this is a perfect way to look stylish, while saving the earth. Here’s a tutorial on how you can use CDs to make a bib necklace!

Every girl is a goddess – Francesca Lia Block.

Constantly channeling my inner goddess, I wear my handmade flower crowns.
They seem really time consuming and complicated to make, but I’ve come up with two ‘cheats’ on how you can make it within minutes and fuss-free!

There are two ways I make them. Here’s the first design;
IMG_20140329_164031

PhotoGrid_1396082387930Materials you will need:
+ Faux flowers on a long bendy stalk. Ensure the stalk is super flexible and can be bent.
+ Sturdy string (I use faux leather straps)
+ Scissors.

Step One: Wrap the stalk with flowers around your head for measurement.
Step Two: Remove it from your head (with measurement), and cut the additional stalk off.
Step Three: Tie both ends with the string. Make sure to ensure it is properly secure.
Step Four: Wear it like a goddess 🙂

Super easy, right? Here’s another one!;
IMG_20140329_164220PhotoGrid_1396082319589Materials you will need;
+ Faux flowers with bendy stem (look at picture for reference!)
+ Plain hairband

Step One: Use the flower with bendy stem to wrap around your hairband.
Step Two: Keep doing so until you get your desired look. You can further secure it with hot glue if needed.
Step Three: Wear it like a goddess!

& that is it! Both my ‘cheat’ flower crowns. I’ve used them for shoots, music festivals, and events with no problems whatsoever.

The key here is to look for faux flowers with stalks or stems that can make it easier for you to make a crown. I’ve been lucky so far to find ones I really like.

Good luck making your own flower crowns & enjoy being a goddess!

Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and we absolutely cannot wait for the festivities to truly kick off! I’ve been working on this idea that is modern and right on trend, as it looks back to the past; inspired by the tassels from those lanterns you see strung everywhere over the season!

*repost from old blog.

Spreading some Christmas cheer a little early, but it’s never too early to prepare! I made several pairs of these Candy Cane earrings a few years back, and got some amazing feedback, so I decided to share how I made them;
PhotoGrid_1383986764804Things you’ll need;

  • Pipe cleaners (yes, that’s what those fuzzy bendy wires are called). I got these from Daiso at RM5 a pack with different colours.
  • Earring hooks (Artfriend, The Gardens)
  • Connector hoops (Artfriend, The Gardens)

PhotoGrid_1383986815497

Step One: Use two pipe cleaners. I used the classic candy cane colours, white & red.
Step Two: Use the white pipe cleaner and bend it around the red one. It’s really easy as it’s bendy so it holds without moving.
PhotoGrid_1383986856085

Step Three: Use the white pipe cleaner and wrap it around the whole of the red pipe cleaner. Remember that the one you use to wrap around, will have to be longer.
Step Four: Bend the front part of the straight, wrapped up pipe cleaners. You can use your finger to make the loop size. Add the connecter hoop with the earring hooks & then cut the pipe cleaners to required size.

& there you have it, super cute Candy Cane earrings!;
PhotoGrid_1383986875154You can even use these as pendants, or attached to tags on wine bottles, or even as bookmark, whatever suits your fancy 🙂

Worked on more Indian themed dreamcatchers. For some reason, I seem to be in a ‘zone’ to work on these. I never question my ‘art gut’ because when inspiration hits, it hits for a reason.

I’ve been planning out strategically on what my Christmas Collection for Deeper Than Fashion will be, due to previously being super busy for Deepavali, I was unable to deliver my best.

So here I am prepping a month ahead, hoping to bring some Christmas joy to those who’d like to purchase some handmade goodies for their home or even as gifts.

The first of my Christmas Collection are these Wine Charms;
20131108_124625

A wine charm is basically a stylish way to identify your wine glass. Ever placed your wine glass on a table and someone else places theirs, then you are unsure which is yours and have to get a new glass? With these wine charms, you not only can identify your glass as each has a different colour wave and design, but it also adds some Christmasy glam to it.

I love small details when it comes to decor, because it really plays a big part. And these, are perfect addition to a family dinner;
