Septum rings have been around since centuries, dating back to several cultures including Indian culture. From rural parts of India, Nepal and so on, to the high fashion pages of magazines, septum rings seem to be a hit with celebrities like Lady Gaga & Rihanna (both of whom I love in term of style);

1 2I needed to give the look a try but didn’t want to invest in a real one, or an expensive faux one. DIY it was, & it was super easy to make as well;

IMG_20141123_162105I used an old midi ring I never used before ( I think it’s from H&M), some silver beads & UHU glue.

Step One: I cut the midi ring and adjusted it to see how it would fit to look good as a septum ring.
Step Two: Once I was happy with the size, I added a few beads to the middle of it & added two beads (with UHU glue) to cover up the opening so it wouldn’t be sharp.
Step Three: I left it to dry overnight, and that was it! 🙂
IMG_20141123_162144IMG_20141123_160725I tried on several ways to style my personal look with the septum ring I made, including using bindis. This is another classic Indian style that seems to be making a re-apperance in the fashion world;

This post seems to be focusing on quite a number of trends, & it doesn’t stop here. This one includes a makeup trend called the Bling Brow. It’s basically self-adhesive crystals that is used either above, under or on the eyebrows to add some glam to your eye makeup. The price however, is really steep.

My alternative? Bindis! It’s the same concept. In fact, Indian brides have been doing this since forever. I had previously purchased two packs of bindis for RM10 each, from Brickfields;IMG_20141123_162223IMG_20141123_162018If the adhesive at the back isn’t sticky anymore, you can add some eyelash glue and re-use it again.

& now I absolutely need to get proper faux septum rings. I can’t wait to rock this look 🙂

Last year around this time, I blogged about how I turned a pack of bindis/pottus into moon shaped ones (CLICK ME! for the tutorial).

I still have the same batch of bindis lying around, and decided it was time to get crafty yet again. This time, with some colour & bling!

Let’s start off with some colour;

IMG_20141012_000347 All you need is the nail polish colours of your choice and a pack of plain bindis. Just colour the bindis with the nail polish and leave them to dry fully. Keep in mind that lighter colours require several layers, so this has to be done a few days in advance before you get to wear it. What a cute way to match your bindis to your outfits and even, nails 😉

& now, for some bling-bling!

IMG_20141012_000657Paint a coat of nail polish over the plain bindi & sprinkle glitter on it. Press it down to make sure the glitter sticks well to the polish. Leave it to dry, after which you add another layer of nail polish on the glitter to keep it from falling off.

Another one you can try is:

IMG_20141012_000500Same method as the previous one applies. Just paint one layer of nail polish onto the bindi, and immediately paste embellishments on it. I absolutely love pearls and haven’t found nice pearl bindis, so this was a perfect way I could do it myself! For this however, I wouldn’t recommend going over it again with another layer of nail polish unless you want it extra shiny.

This way you get to have an entire revamped bindi set of your own without spending (or hardly spending!) any money 🙂 Definitely my favourite kind of DIYs 😉

As routine would have it when my closet overflows, its a sign that I need to go through everything and distribute my clothes  to some friends & also charity. I decided to keep aside some old clothes for future DIYs and tutorials. This time around I focused on adding just little touches to give something basic and simple a big effect. Like these:

Denim short + lace trimming:

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA& lastly, black crop top + tri-coloured fringe trimmings:
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHonestly though, how cute are these?! Trimmings are such an easy way to add a little something something to a basic article of clothing. Also, some of the dangly ones are so fun to dance in with all the swishing-swashing it does. Adds more impact to your movement 😉

Here’s a tutorial I worked on for Tongue in Chic on how to revamp denim shorts with lace which is also applicable to the other designs I worked on. Click here —>  HERE!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Review: Off The Rack Asia.

When I stumbled across Off The Rack Asia, I was intrigued, excited and all kinds of happy.  The inner shopaholic in me was jumping for joy at the range they had even if it was going to leave a dent in my wallet. You pay for quality after all 🙂

Off The Rack Asia is Malaysia’s answer to popular websites like ASOS (which I adore). I like how they keep true to being Malaysian and supporting homegrown talent by getting several local designers to contribute some exclusive collections for their website. Besides that, they also have international brands and some more wallet-friendly items.

The website offers a ‘Create A Look’ function where you can play stylist by mixing and matching looks, after which you can share on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. The best part? You can be rewarded for doing so via a loyalty program. Unleash your inner fashion guru and play dress up while shopping for some really beautiful pieces you absolutely need in your wardrobe.

Like this gorgeous dress I purchased;
1512709_10151883873387058_2030330213_nDress: Off The Rack Asia
Lipstick: NYX Matte lipcolour in Dusty Rose

The dress is a navy blue mod-cut inspired dress with sheer sleeves, simplicity at it’s best. I love how the dress is so classy and how the sleeves and length of the dress gives it the right touch of sexy. With it’s bronze-gold fully sequined Peter-pan collar, no accessory was needed to further enhance this look. All I had to do was slip on the dress, add a dash of colour to my lips for a pop and I was ready to walk out the door in full fashionista form.

I bought several other items from Off the Rack Asia, but I’ll keep those for another post 😉

Here’s the link to check out the rest of their amazing collection; http://www.offtherack.asia/

Trust me, you’ll love it!

This is my usual outfit of the day, every day!
The hobo-I-don’t-care-what-I-look-like-because-I’ll-be-in-the-office-all-day look :3

& also, I’m down with the fever so being all stylo isn’t the top of my priority, comfort is 🙂
IMG_20131018_154103Croptop: Supplier
Harem Pants: Bali
Rings : H&M
Flip-flops: Banana Peel
'Seriously, I needed to show off just how cute my crop top is! I love how it kinda looks like a dreamcatcher, with it’s colourful Mandala design and feathers around it.

Also here’s a tip; I only wear crop tops with my high-waisted bottoms to avoid showing too much skin. & it also helps cover the food belly :3

At Kumar vs Malaysia Live, organised by Define International.
As it was held at Berjaya Times Square hotel, I opted for a glam, simple look.

Here’s my #ootn (outfit of the night);
PhotoGrid_1382004725316Dress: Asean Avenue, Sunway Pyramid.
Necklace: Forever 21
Clutch: H&M
Ring: Bazaar find
PhotoGrid_1382004802962

I decided on this dress because it was both simple and classy. I love ‘good girl’ length which is below the knees and the high neckline, but the oh-so-subtle and sexy peekaboo at the back. Also, that shade of electric blue against dark skin is one of my favourites. The material of the dress is flowy and fun!
PhotoGrid_1382004918106For accessories, I went with a full pearl choker necklace (I got at such a steal!) entangled with a gold-bronze chain base. To keep with the somewhat mermaid theme, I added a little gold starfish ring. For a bag, I used my hologram mermaid clutch. I love how the colours change when the light hits!
PhotoGrid_1382004863604As for make up, I decided on a earthy palette. Minimal eyeshadow and dramatic cat eyeliner for some old skool Hollywood glam. Finished off by nude lipsticks (from Stage) and a little bit of bronzer.

Statement necklaces are one of my top 5 accessories must-have! I love how it never goes out of style. The materials used easy season may differ, but statement necklaces in general are always in trend. Currently, trending are rhinestone beaded bib necklaces which is why I absolutely had to attempt to make my own.

how to keep your zipper from falling, tutorial on how to keep your zipper up, use a keychain to keep zipper from falling

I constantly have this issue with my jeans, the zipper always slides down! I haven’t had a single pair of jeans I didn’t have this issue with. According to my lecturer (back in fashion school), it was due to my lower body shape. My frame is pretty small and I have a big butt.  Seriously, it is so embarrassing and I often have to re-do my zipper without anyone noticing.

I attempted several things (including using safety pins, which was not a success!) but this works best for me. So for those of you who have the same issue I’m facing, here’s a life-saver!;

IMG_20130918_171047All you need to do is get a keychain ring, loop it into your zipper pull & hook it over your buckle button before you buckle your jeans.

Probably the simplest, most time and effort saving way of avoiding any embarrassing zipper situations!
