Deepavali Day Three. I kid you not when I said the party doesn’t stop πŸ˜‰ This time around, the party was at my place.

This is what I wore;PhotoGrid_1383582769966Top, necklace, earrings and bangles: Bazaar at Bukit Jalil.
Mermaid leggings: Fashion Forward.

Since it was in my house and I could foresee a lot of running around, I wore a white cotton kurti top with some embroidery designs in white as well to match my mermaid leggings. Mixing my traditional top with my modern leggings was a huge hit!

Everyone needs a white kurti top, it’s the easiest thing to mix and match for every occasion!;

PhotoGrid_1383583922185These huge silver hoop jhimki earrings were purchased 3 years ago, and I got them for RM10 a pair (I have the same ones in gold as well :3). Since my outfit was very bare, I had to have some accessories that stood out, and these earrings did the trick;
PhotoGrid_1383585596593I got this gorgeous paisley mango printed necklace for an absolute steal! It was Rm35, and worth every cent! I love how traditional it looks but can be worn on a daily as well. The details on it are really intricate & classy;
PhotoGrid_1383583871302Just to add some bling and colour to my otherwise plain outfit, I wore chunky bangles in shades of blue and green with rhinestones on it for some glam. I also added a big mother of pearl designed ring;
PhotoGrid_1383584024917The night before, I had drawn tiny neon peacock feathers to my nails using this technique; HERE!;
IMG_20131105_010522Lastly, my faceeee! I did minimal skin make up for a natural look, but this time since I was wearing something plain, I got to play dress up with my eye make up;
PhotoGrid_1383584075974I did a shimmery emerald green, turquoise and bronze mixed smokey eye using my Miss Rose palette (tutorial on this soon!) & played it down with nude lipstick from Stage.

My teardrop pottu was fromΒ Urban Aura Signature.Β I am thrilled I got the entire set of pottus from here as I’ve been only wearing those throughout Deepavali;

Deepavali day two. With my family, the party never stops and I foresee an entire week of functions *yay!!!*

My second Deepavali outfit;PhotoGrid_1383494130834Top, pants & shoes: Bazaar at Bukit Jalil.
Bangles: Mix & match, plain ones from Brickfields, & the thread ones (in pink) from Varnam Gallery.
Clutch: Gift
Ring: Gift from India.

I opted for really, really bright colours this time around, with a combination of hot pink, purple & turquoise. I call this combo, the Barbie colours.

Both my top & pants were made from a really soft cotton lycra material. I love how vibrant the colours were and how they complimented each other perfectly;
PhotoGrid_1383485045105My bangles were a mix and match from the bangles I’ve collected throughout the years. I mixed plain metal bangles with threaded ones to give it a different look. My clutch was plain turquoise, to add a pop of blue to my outfit;
PhotoGrid_1383498078410The jhimki earrings were handmade by yours truly to match the outfit πŸ™‚PhotoGrid_1383494394115This Ganesha ring, eventhough a small piece of accessory was the highlight due to how unique it was. It looks almost like a statue, with the 2D effect it has. My favourite god, GaneshaΒ the Hindu god of intelligence and success;
PhotoGrid_1383494568686My shoes, were this super comfy and funky shoes I got for RM25 at the Bukit Jalil bazaar. It’s hand embroided, so the details on it are very intricate;

PhotoGrid_1383494640770

& for my make up of the night, I kept it at a minimal due to the vibrant colours I was already wearing. I did however, do winged cat eyeliner to give it an old Tamil movie actress look πŸ˜‰ Exaggerative eyeliner was in back in the days πŸ™‚

My diamond shaped pottu was from Urban Aura Signature.
IMG_20131103_225741Excuse the extreme flash, I didn’t have any other picture of myself.

bukit jalil carnival finds, deepavali lookbook, diwali clothes, indian mermaid, where to do indian shopping in malaysia

For Deepavali, it is tradition that we wear new clothes. I love this sort of a tradition, I mean, which girl doesn’t like an excuse to shop?! πŸ˜€

Deepavali also means, going to the temple, visiting family hence a lot of travelling and lots, & lots of eating! Here’s what I wore;
PhotoGrid_1383363460463Top, pants, bag, slippers & ring: Bazaar at Bukit Jalil.
Bangles: Bollywood Accessories, Brickfields.
Earrings: Gift.

This year I opted for a light blue outfit, staying true to my Indian mermaid self πŸ˜‰ The kurta top with goldish-bronze embroidery work in front was perfect for the weather as it wasn’t too warm. I got the top (after bargaining) for RM30.

The harem pants, was actually something I bought the year before at the same bazaar but never wore so technically it was new as well. It was a plain white free size pants, with pretty paisley designs. Again, super comfortable to wear for all that travelling;
PhotoGrid_1383366405434Now my favourite part, the accessories! The bangles are a mix and match from my older collection of bangles. The best part about bangles are you can always just remove or add on new colour and types to make it work. I have quite a big stack, so I usually just work around with those I already have πŸ™‚

The ring is probably one of best buys I got this Deepavali at the bazaar. At Rm10, this beautiful ring reminds me of the kollam design which gives this modern accessory a tradition twist;
PhotoGrid_1383364487757This is my favourite find this year, a ethnic Indian paisley designed handbag for RM10. Yes, RM10 for this gorgeous unique piece! I wish I had bought a few more colours as this is such a steal!;PhotoGrid_1383364560779Slip on flats, with embellishment to add a little festivities to my feet! This was also purchased at the bazaar from a year back or so;
IMG_20131102_122844& as for my make up, I keep it as minimal and as natural as possible because I knew a whole day out meant a lot of sweating. I used the basics for skin, eyeliner (it’s a must for every Indian girl πŸ˜‰ ) & nude lipstick from Stage.

My pottu was from Urban Aura Signature πŸ™‚Β IMG_20131102_084249May millions of lamps illuminate your life with endless joy,prosperity,health & wealth always.Β Wishing you and your family a very Happy Deepavali!

Lots of love, peace & rainbows from the Indian mermaid of Deeper than Fashion

Went to Nestle Everyday 12th Annual Deepavali Carnival at Bukit Jalil for some amazing bargains for my Deepavali shopping. A different blog post on this all together.

There’s nothing like a good bargain!;
IMG_20131031_173518For the bazaar, I decided I’d be decked out in something both modern with an Indian twist (I tend to do this quite often). Here’s what I wore;
IMG_20131031_180207Top: Tailored, fabric from India.
Harem pants: Bali
Earrings: Handmade from Deeper than Fashion πŸ˜€

The Indian printed fabric for the top was actually purchased previously at one of the Deepavali carnivals I went to a few years back. So was the fabric for this dress here.

I decided on harem pants as it’s probably the most comfortable pants I own. & to add the finishing touches, I wore a pottu and a pair of handmade jhimkis.

Yes, I made those earrings. In fact, I wish I was able to make them in time to sell for Deepavali but I was swamped with custom orders. However, these will definitely go on sale after πŸ™‚
IMG_20131025_160143

IMG_20131030_132621I’ll be custom making these, which means you can pick the base colour (bronze or silver) and pick the colours you’d like me to incorporate.

Those of you interested, you know where to find me πŸ˜‰

I usually wear basic, practical clothes to work (or can be deemed as boring, but I’m all for being comfortable for a long day sitting at the desk facing a laptop).

Here’s my basic black outfit for a Thursday in;

PhotoGrid_1382618967098Tank Top; H&M
High-waisted Skinnies: H&M (on sale at Rm19!)
Bag: Gifted.

Right after work, I had an event to attend. The Butterfly Project: GUESS LUXE leatherbags launch. The theme was white.

I brought some extra clothes & accessories to just layer over my basic outfit;
IMG_20131024_204207White shirt: Asean Avenue, Sunway Pyramid.
Necklace: Online store 2 years ago (I can’t remember!)
Studded gold cuff: Forever21
Rings: Forever21 and H&M

I love plain white shirts, there’s just something classy about them. The one I’m wearing, I love because of the wing like extra detail. I just threw mine over what I was wearing earlier and buttoned up all the way;
PhotoGrid_1382619052074

I am carrying the same bag, just in different ways πŸ™‚

Now on to my accessories!I love accessorizing (one of the reasons I make accessories!). I love how a simple accessory can change the entire look of an outfit, so I got all blinged out here;
PhotoGrid_1382618878394& last but not least, a shameless toilet mirror selfie of the whole look;

A great way to beat the Monday blues? Dress up a little! As the saying goes, “When you look good, you feel good”. Or atleast you could attempt to feel good πŸ˜‰Β
PhotoGrid_1382332765665Dress: Hand me down from my sister.
Shoes: Vincci
Necklace: Forever21
Rings: H&M

IMG_20131021_141715Maxi dresses are probably one of the easiest things to wear. It’s just a slip on dress that’s comfortable as well as when styled properly, well, stylish πŸ˜‰Β

PhotoGrid_1382332803007I matched my Bohemian maxi dress with simple gypsy-inspired accessories. Long chains and chunky rings. Those ring are my favourite, and are worn almost every day πŸ™‚

PhotoGrid_1382332853635

The gladiator sandals from Vincci were purchased almost 3 years ago. I can’t seem to find shoes I like anymore. Their either too high for my liking, or too many things going on. Fingers crossed these last me until I find something else I like.

This is my usual outfit of the day, every day!
The hobo-I-don’t-care-what-I-look-like-because-I’ll-be-in-the-office-all-day look :3

& also, I’m down with the fever so being all stylo isn’t the top of my priority, comfort is πŸ™‚
IMG_20131018_154103Croptop: Supplier
Harem Pants: Bali
Rings : H&M
Flip-flops: Banana Peel
'Seriously, I needed to show off just how cute my crop top is! I love how it kinda looks like a dreamcatcher, with it’s colourful Mandala design and feathers around it.

Also here’s a tip; I only wear crop tops with my high-waisted bottoms to avoid showing too much skin. & it also helps cover the food belly :3

At Kumar vs Malaysia Live, organised by Define International.Β
As it was held at Berjaya Times Square hotel, I opted for a glam, simple look.

Here’s my #ootn (outfit of the night);
PhotoGrid_1382004725316Dress: Asean Avenue, Sunway Pyramid.
Necklace: Forever 21
Clutch: H&M
Ring: Bazaar find
PhotoGrid_1382004802962

I decided on this dress because it was both simple and classy. I love ‘good girl’ length which is below the knees and the high neckline, but the oh-so-subtle and sexy peekaboo at the back. Also, that shade of electric blue against dark skin is one of my favourites. The material of the dress is flowy and fun!
PhotoGrid_1382004918106For accessories, I went with a full pearl choker necklace (I got at such a steal!) entangled with a gold-bronze chain base. To keep with the somewhat mermaid theme, I added a little gold starfish ring. For a bag, I used my hologram mermaid clutch. I love how the colours change when the light hits!
PhotoGrid_1382004863604As for make up, I decided on a earthy palette. Minimal eyeshadow and dramatic cat eyeliner for some old skool Hollywood glam. Finished off by nude lipsticks (from Stage) and a little bit of bronzer.

LookBook; TriBelle.

Today was one of the rare days I skipped my either lazy hobo ‘I-don’t-want-to-wake-up’ look or my casual street style, and opted for something more stylish and feminine.

Today, I dressed for success. And an interview πŸ™‚

PhotoGrid_1381898496409Dress: Fabric from India & dress sewn in Vietnam.
Chunky Necklace: Deeper Than Fashion
Shoes: Primark, London
Bag: Forever 21

Today marks three years of Deeper Than Fashion being up & running! πŸ˜€

I wanted to wear something that was both festive, yet casual because I was heading out for dinner and drinks. There’s nothing more festive than being a mermaid πŸ˜‰ So today, I was a mermaid πŸ™‚
PhotoGrid_1381757459569

PhotoGrid_1381758294277PhotoGrid_1381751209535

Top : H&M (on sale for Rm10!)
Coral Necklace: Colours, Midvalley
Clutch: Gift
Mermaid tail ring: H&M
Mermaid Leggings:Β FashionForward

PhotoGrid_1381748695321Decided on nude, natural make up and hair pulled back in a bun. I’m so used to letting my hair down naturally, that this was a complete different look for me.

Lipstick from Stage MakeUp.
