Review: Plus White 5 Minute Bleach Whitening Gel by Supermodel’s Secrets.

There’s nothing more attractive than a pleasant smile.

Having worn braces for 3 years of my life, I’ve become very particular about oral hygiene. I used to be one of those girls who drinks carbonated drinks or even coffee with a straw (I know, it doesn’t have the same effect as sipping from a cup) but I did it to avoid staining my teeth. Teeth stain so easily, even yummy fruits like cherries, blueberries, and raspberries can cause discolouring.

Now I’m less of a pain about these things, thanks to Plus White 5 Minute Bleach Whitening that I found on Supermodel’s Secrets 🙂
IMG_20140427_225840This is probably the only type of whitening that I would condone. It contains the same active ingredient used professionally by dentists (the bleaching action of peroxide) to whiten and brighten teeth, gently lift away stains and reduce yellowing in a strength developed for at-home use.

IMG_20140427_225725White Plus comes in a tube that enables precise application. There are several ways you can apply it onto your teeth (using your fingers, cotton buds, or just brushing) but this set comes with a mouth tray that fits your mouth which makes your life easier and ensures complete coverage of the whitening gel on each tooth.

IMG_20140427_225651Once you’ve squeeze the gel into the mouth tray, just insert it in your mouth. Make sure the excess gel is washed off, as there might be a reaction.

IMG_20140427_225603Leave it on for 5 minutes (or more, depending on your preference. You can go up to 15 minutes). Once you are done, wash off the gel (I use a separate tooth brush to brush it off) and make sure you get it all off. The gel has already worked its magic on your teeth.

It depends on each individual on how it works, but you should see results within 3 weeks of usage. I use it almost every other day, and it really does make a difference.

IMG_20140427_225539Say hello to super white (if I do say so myself!) teeth! 😉

Review: Off The Rack Asia.

When I stumbled across Off The Rack Asia, I was intrigued, excited and all kinds of happy.  The inner shopaholic in me was jumping for joy at the range they had even if it was going to leave a dent in my wallet. You pay for quality after all 🙂

Off The Rack Asia is Malaysia’s answer to popular websites like ASOS (which I adore). I like how they keep true to being Malaysian and supporting homegrown talent by getting several local designers to contribute some exclusive collections for their website. Besides that, they also have international brands and some more wallet-friendly items.

The website offers a ‘Create A Look’ function where you can play stylist by mixing and matching looks, after which you can share on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. The best part? You can be rewarded for doing so via a loyalty program. Unleash your inner fashion guru and play dress up while shopping for some really beautiful pieces you absolutely need in your wardrobe.

Like this gorgeous dress I purchased;
1512709_10151883873387058_2030330213_nDress: Off The Rack Asia
Lipstick: NYX Matte lipcolour in Dusty Rose

The dress is a navy blue mod-cut inspired dress with sheer sleeves, simplicity at it’s best. I love how the dress is so classy and how the sleeves and length of the dress gives it the right touch of sexy. With it’s bronze-gold fully sequined Peter-pan collar, no accessory was needed to further enhance this look. All I had to do was slip on the dress, add a dash of colour to my lips for a pop and I was ready to walk out the door in full fashionista form.

I bought several other items from Off the Rack Asia, but I’ll keep those for another post 😉

Here’s the link to check out the rest of their amazing collection; http://www.offtherack.asia/

Trust me, you’ll love it!

Review: Supermodel’s Secrets – 3D Beauty Blender

Foundation application is usually very tricky, even for seasoned makeup artists (according to my professional makeup artist friends). I usually work on my own make up during photoshoots, and my problem is always getting the foundation right. For some reason, I can’t seem to get it to not cake up and leave visible streaks, giving the photographer a tough time having to edit it.
—
Or a long night out at some event where I’d like to look as close to flawless as possible, I constantly need to touch up on my foundation since I never get it right the first time around.

—

& then I found this amazing creation from Supermodel’s Secrets! The 3D Beauty Blender! It’s an absolute money and time saver that every girl who uses any form of liquid make up on her face needs to have one (or two!)!

20131229_142656

I usually wet the sponge before using it and squeeze it until it is just slightly damp to get the best air brush looking finish. Basically, you use the sponge and bounce it (yes, bounce!) around your whole face. It will spread the foundation evenly as it blends and gives you skin a flawless look, and pick up excess foundation as it does that.20131221_180218
Here’s an example of how my foundation/make up looks like after using the blender sponge, with no editing or filter; 20140104_122505I would completely recommend this to everyone and anyone who wear any form of liquid makeup on their skin. Check out the links below to grab one for yourself! 🙂

Food Review; Pak John’s Steamboat & Yong Tau Foo.

06 Monday Jan 2014

I was given the opportunity to try out Pak John’s Steamboat and Yong Tau Foo at e@Curve, thanks to LivingSocial MY.

The foodie that I am, I was incredibly happy to oblige and accept the offer and I’m glad I did.

Pak John’s is a fairly new steamboat place, but is already one that is making a big impact. Serving only quality and fresh food, this place has a very large range of choices and is also halal (sorry pork lovers!).

The place was fairly spacious and comfortable, with a minimalist ambiance. The best part is even though it was indoors and fully air-conditioned, there were no problems with ventilation. Plus point there as most places I’ve been to seem to lack in that department.

PhotoGrid_1392706202136There are three types of soups for you to choose from, chicken, tom yam or miso. All three were equally tasty, but I love anything spicy so tom yam was definitely a winner for me.

PhotoGrid_1392706019624Pak John offers a really satisfying and large variety of food ranging from seafood, different types of meat including duck, sausages and fishballs, tofu, and also fresh vegetables (which were actually fresh!). There were also lots of noodles and quality Japanese Udon.

I got full just looking at all the choices, and everything I tried was equally good 🙂
PhotoGrid_1392706264658PhotoGrid_1392706284903How cute are these fishballs?!

PhotoGrid_1392706346840Besides steaming them in the soup, you also have the option of grilling, giving your taste buds a real treat. They also provide marinated meat for this grilling experience;

PhotoGrid_1392706230045A perfect way to end your meal is with a visit to the dessert section. Marshmallows dipped in chocolate fondue, ice-cream potong (classic Malaysian favourite!) as well as regular ice-cream was there to end your hearty meal with a sweet note.

The best part of it all? The price of the meal was below RM30 per person & it’s all you can eat.

Affordable, a large variety, comfortable ambiance, freshness and quality not compromised. What more could one ask for from a meal? 🙂

Review: Magic Heatless Curlers from Supermodels Secrets

12 Thursday Dec 2013

I never do anything to my hair. It’s naturally straight with minimal curls at the bottom, but generally just straight and… safe. The reason I don’t really do much with my hair is because I don’t like using chemicals or even heat to my hair, which will eventually spoil it and make it dry.

Which is why I was super excited when I made this purchase for heatless hair curlers from Supermodels Secrets;

PhotoGrid_1386848157210It comes in different sizes standard (smallest curl for shorter hair) at RM 29, extra large for large bouncy curls for longer hair (the ones I used!) at Rm65, and extra long curls for small curls for long hair, at RM65.

When I first got it, I thought it’d be very tedious to do by myself, but I wrong. It’s very basic and requires almost no skill to do.

PhotoGrid_1386848218646Firstly, apply the conditioner mousse on each strand before looping hair into the spiral roller.

There’s a stick with a hook that helps make this entire process so much easier! You’ll need to pull the roller through the bottom of the stick all the way to the top without covering the hook.
PhotoGrid_1386848252439Once you’ve done that, use the hook and put a section of your hair that you want to curl through it. After which, you’ll have to pull the stick downwards which will allow the curler to wrap your hair into a spiral.

PhotoGrid_1386848281783Once you’re done, it’ll look like this 🙂 Continue until you finish the whole head. The whole process takes about 15-20 minutes and has to be left on for 3 to 4 hours. I did 4 hours just to be extra sure.

The end result;
PhotoGrid_1386848316651Gorgeous big curls & no damage to my hair! 😀

Of NYX Matte Lipsticks & MakeUp Sales.

My newest makeup addiction is lipsticks. I go through several phases in makeup and have a particular favourite item I absolute must have at that point of time, and at this time, it’s lipsticks. Specifically the ones from NYX Cosmetics.

They have several ranges, but I’ve fallen in love with the NYX Matte Lipsticks as they are highly pigmented (which is perfect for people with darker lips like me!) and long-lasting as well.

Reasons I love this brand include the fact that their products are anti animal cruelty hence not tested on animals (please check before purchasing makeup, some brands still do animal testing which is completely avoidable 😦 ). Another reason is the price range; it’s at a reasonable pricing that allows even college students to purchase it. Quality at an affordable price, I’m sold!

Here are a few lipsticks I managed to grabs;

IMG_20131127_184307

This shade is called Indie Flick. It’s a tomato red colour with tints of orange. It’s vibrant and looks great against my dark skin. Most people believe (and it’s a false one) that dark skinned girls can’t wear bright, vibrant colours. I’d like to prove them wrong & this colour does just that 🙂

Here are a few more colours that I got, that I absolutely love against my dark skintone;
PhotoGrid_13855642790991. Audrey – It’s a light shade of pink with a nude tint that can be worn daily and easy to match.

2. Perfect Red – One of the rare bright red lipsticks that look great on fair skin as well as dark skin.

3. Sweet Pink – Probably my favourite Barbie shade of pink lipstick I own. It’s bright colour is not too intense, and subtle which makes it perfect.

4. Tea Rose – A soft pink shade, with a really sweet tone.

My suggestion is, try the testers before making a purchase & try as many colours as you’d like. Make sure you have minimal make up, or nude tones to ensure you know what colours work against your skintone. I usually wipe off all my makeup when testing colours, just to be extra sure 🙂

These lipsticks are sold at Sephora for RM26 each. Again, such a steal! Besides their lipsticks, I also use their concealer, and powder (that provides darker shades for dark skinned people like me, another plus point!) & their brow kit.

The great news is, if you’re already a Sephora member, there’s a 20% sale going on from today to the 30th of November. Check your email/sms! 🙂 ;
1& on makeup related note, Inglot will be having a sale as well;

Review: Beauty Friends Collagen Mask by Supermodels Secrets

beauty friends, beauty friends mask review, beauty mask review

Hello beautiful unicorns! My humblest apologies for the lack of updates as I’ve been sick for the past two weeks due to some virus that’s apparently been going around (so make sure you drink lots of water, and keep healthy!).

Since I’ve been sick, my skin has gone through some major breakouts and dryness due to my inability to take care of it as all I’ve been doing was sleeping and resting, due to lethargy.

Say hello to my crappy skin (no make up, no filter) & extremely cracked lips after two weeks of dehydration;
IMG_20131126_153008This was a wonderful opportunity for me to try out the Beauty Friends Collagen mask I purchased from Supermodels Secrets.

The Beauty Friends brand is pretty popular in Korea, especially for their masks. Here what the packaging looks like;
20131123_163646What I love about sheet masks, are they are really easy to use! This mask is water-soluble and is meant to deeply moisturise and condition the skin. The ingredients include natural plant extracts that help the skin absorb nutrients.

I heated the mask before using it by placing the sealed packaging into warm water for 2-3 minutes. You can also chill it in the freezer, depending on your preference. I wore the mask for 30 minutes (or slightly longer as I got distracted) and surprisingly, it stayed on with no fuss.

Once I removed the mask, I massaged the excess moisture into my skin gently to make sure all the goodness gets fully absorbed. My face feels so much softer and hydrated especially after being sick and the horrible heat we’re facing right now.

If I had one thing I don’t quite like about the mask, it’s the scent. But that’s just me and my inability to handle smells I’m unfamiliar with (this means I can’t even stand most perfumes, so it may not be an issue at all to you).

I’d definitely try the mask again, but then again Supermodels Secrets has a whole load of different types of masks I’d love to try my hands on! You should too! Take a look at their whole range here;

Review: Sundepil Hair Removal Pads by Supermodel Secrets.

13 Wednesday Nov 2013

Makeup and beauty products is the original Photoshop, and I think people tend to forget just how much magic it can create.
—
I love anything that can enhance and transform looks with minimal effort, which is why, it was a heaven sent when I found Supermodel Secrets. It was love at first click!& so I did a little shopping. Here’s a sneak peek of what I purchased (and reviews to follow soon!);
DSC_0156
I’m going to start with the first thing that caught my attention, the Smoothlegs/Sundepil Europes leading hair removal pads;
DSC_0163
To me, there’s nothing more unattractive than a girl who doesn’t take the effort to remove unwanted hair, be it on your legs, arms or even worse, the face.
—
I previously saw this product & tested it, while I was in London for holidays and regretted not buying it then (due to luggage space) but boy, was I thrilled when I found it on their site!;
DSC_0165
The set came with; 1 storage case, 1 large Sundepil pad & 1 small Sundepil pad, and replacement depilation pads. I was so thrilled, that instead of a picture review like I usually do, I did a short video (using Instagram :3);

It’s super easy and completely painless! Just rub the hair removal pads (which feels like really soft sand paper, which exfoliates the skin as it removes hair) in circular motions gently. It may take awhile, but it leaves your hand (since I only did my hands so far) feeling smooth and soft!
—
Since I did it on my hands for the video, I made one of my guy friends sacrifice his hands for picture purposes 😛

Before;
DSC_0168After;
DSC_0169
I think every girl should have these, even if it’s just incase of emergency. It’s small and light so it’s easy to carry around, even on vacation and such. It’s not only removes the hair effectively but also exfoliates the skin.

Himalaya Herbal Healthcare Anti Hair Fall session.

I was invited to the Himalaya Herbal Healthcare Anti Hair Fall event, along with 11 other bloggers from The Butterfly Project at Rupini’s Beauty Spa in Jalan Telawi, Bangsar. Having heard of the brand before and how it was really effective for those with hair loss, I was pretty excited to see what they had in store for us bloggers.

As soon as I walked in, I was treated to a drink (I picked fresh soya bean) and a little crossword puzzle based on the new Himalaya anti-fall products that I was about to try out. Luckily my brain decided to cooperate even with my lack of sleep.

Or maybe, just maybe, me & Shivani of Pen My Blog discussed some of the answers 😉
IMG_155d1

This was actually a good way to get to know the product as we had to read about it several times in order to solve the puzzle.

DSC_0003

Himalaya Anti Hair Fall has been in the market for some time now and has quite a following. The reason being, these products not only are completely ayurvedic and herbal, but also is effective at such a reasonable price! It is a 2-in-1 formula that helps to nourish the roots and strengthen weakened hair. Also, it is a gentle shampoo that is safe to use on permed, straightened and dyed hair.

While waiting to get my hair consultation, I walked around taking pictures and I couldn’t help but take a picture of some of the Indian decor in Rupini’s. I especially love this piece. It was so beautiful hanging over a bowl of flowers;

DSC_0010

Every one of us got our hair consultations done to give us a better idea of what we need to do to avoid hair fall and such. The consultant used a scanning device and ran it against the scalp so we could have a better look at the roots and how much oil it produces; DSC_0020DSC_0024To be honest, I was a little grossed out to see what it looked like up close. *points at picture*. That is just too weird looking! But the great news is, I have really healthy hair. Yay me! :3

After that, we got pampered to a nice 10 minute oil head massage using the Himalaya Revitalizing Hair Oil;
IMG_20131026_130302As soon as I heard the word oil, automatically I cringed inwards remembering the time when I was forced to use coconut oil for my hair as a kid (& oh, that smell!). I was pleasantly surprised with the scent of the oil that was used. Not too strong and quite pleasant.

The shampoo, smelt similar to the oil. It’s not a perfumey smell like I am used to, but has a natural, fresh smell to it. Something I could get used to (& if you know me, I can’t tolerate any form of weird smells, as it gives me a headache). This on it’s own was a plus point for me!

Once all the girls got our hairs done, the organizer of this event, Shireen Chrishanthi gave us a short talk on the Himalaya Anti Hair Fall Range and the benefits of it. Right after that, we were introduced to a professional hair stylist, Justin from Shear Perfection Hair Salon, who gave us his honest feedback on what hair suited us best, as well as the latest in hair trends;

PhotoGrid_1382791661425David’s comment on my hairstyle was that it was nice, but safe and that if I added more waves to it, it’d be sexier. I think this calls for a Hair-volution blog post on all the things I’m made my hair go through these past few years. I doubt it’d be deemed as safe 😉

Before bidding farewell, we had a group photography session with all the wonderful people present that day;
IMG_1553I obviously wasn’t ready for the picture, but oh well 🙂

& we each got a goodie bag with the Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo and Himalaya’s Anti-Hair Fall Cream to take home;
DSC_0029I’m looking forward to continue using these products to see what more it can do for my hair.

The pro was I love how shiny my hair looked after the event & the con was, it wasn’t as soft as I expected it to be, however that could be due to the minimal anti fall hair cream (that doubles as a conditioner of some sort) that was used on my hair earlier;
IMG_20131026_184353

Also we got a free Hot Oil Massage voucher from Rupini’s Bangsar, and a discount voucher from Shear Perfection Salon. Which I can’t wait to try out & review soon!

A huge THANK YOU to Miss Shireen for having me and the other butterflies from The Butterfly Project, Himalaya Healthcare Malaysia, David of Shear Perfection Salon & lastly, Rupini’s Beauty Spa, Bangsar.

Review; Bag of Love – Take Me There!

21 Monday Oct 2013

I’ve been wanting to try purchasing a beauty box for the longest time now, and finally got around to doing it.

There are quite a few out there, but I decided on Bag of Love. The reason I opted for this particular beauty bag was due to the super cute design (I’m a sucker for cute packaging!) and the sneak peeks that were provided on their Facebook page.

& boy, was I excited when I got the bag!;
IMG_20131020_225149They never fully reveal what’s in the bag, so I had absolutely no idea what I was about to receive, but I was pleasantly surprised! 🙂

Here are the contents in the bag;
PhotoGrid_1382276627732The bag not only includes the products, but also comes with a pamphlet of simple details of the products as well as basic instructions on how to use each product;
PhotoGrid_1382280627834 As for the products, here’s what I got;
PhotoGrid_13822765032421. Olay Regenerist Serum, 50ml RM 49.90
When Olay is mentioned the first thing that comes to mind is their anti aging creams. This particular one, is meant to smooth and reduce fine lines and wrinkles! Definitely something I need to start planning to invest in!

2. O’slee Roseship Beauty Solution Advance Formula III, 100ml RM 59.9O
This product can be used for multi-purposes. It’s a toner, make up base, & body lotion all in one. I’m not a huge fan of the scent it has, however I tried it as a toner and it works well enough as it is moisturizing.
PhotoGrid_13822765694033. CK Eternity Aqua Women Rollerball EDP, 6ml RM 49
I actually squealed in excitement when I saw this! I love Calvin Klein fragrances and this has been a scent I’ve been eyeing for a while now. I love this scent as it smells really fresh, but not too strong and overpowering. & now, I have a small one I can carry around in my handbag! *does a little dance*

4. RVB Skinlab Diego Dalla Palma Cell Detoxium Purifying Clay Mask, 1 sachet RM 29.90
This is the first product I tried from the Bag of Love. It is an intensive care mask that has ventilated green clay with detoxifying and re-mineralizing action. It is supposed to gently refines skin texture, as well as restore brightness, firmness and softness all in one. The texture was light, and doesn’t harden on your face. I washed it after 10 minutes and my skin felt super soft and clean! I’m definitely investing this product soon.
PhotoGrid_13822765304455. NUXE Hulle Prodigieuse Shimmer Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, 100ml RM 198
Here’s another multi-purpose product (I love it when something has several functions!). This oil can be use on face, hands and legs, and surprisingly, hair as well! Again, I’m not a fan of distinct scents, so I don’t quite like how this smells but I certainly love how it looks! I tried it today and it gave my face a glowy, golden tint (similar to using a bronzer!). The smell fades after awhile, so it wasn’t really an issue after all.

6. Swiss line Force Vitale Aqua Vitale Cream, 50ml RM 368
This lightweight cream is said to quickly penetrate into the skin, leaving it feeling fresh and soft. I tested it earlier and I must say, I love it already!

& last but not least, the bag itself!;
IMG_20131021_102323I love, love, love cute bags! & this is probably one of the cutest designs I’ve seen on Bag Of Love. To keep up with the travel theme, it’s designed to look like an old fashioned envelope (the type I used when I wrote to my pen-pals wayyy back in primary school!).

I love bags like these because the usage for them is endless. I’m currently using this to carry my accessory making tools on the go :3

Reasons why I would continue subscribing to Bag of Love are:

  • The price is very reasonable for such amazing beauty products! RM 39.90 for monthly, RM 119.70 + mystery gift for 3 months or RM 478.80 + free 1 month for 12 months.
  • It allows me to try and sample products I wouldn’t normally try (and lose out on!). I already found several gems in this bag that is really worth trying!
  • Even if I don’t like a certain scent or shade of the product, I can always give it to a friend 🙂
  • You can purchase it as a gift for a girlfriend!

In conclusion, the Bag of Love is value for money! Plus, which girl doesn’t like being able to pamper herself with beauty and products? 🙂

To purchase your own Bag of Love, or even learn more about what it’s all about, you can check out their website HERE!
