Meet my newfound make up crush on a budget,Miss Rose – Delicately Wet Eye Shadow 3D: DSC_0177This palette comes in 48 colours.

My honest opinion, I LOVE IT! I love colours and certain colours are so difficult to show on dark skin tones like mine. But these come out beautifully against my skin and has such good pigments;
1I attempted rainbow eyeshadow as a trial on my skin, and was completely sold when the bright yellow showed on my skin. I’ve always had problems with shades of yellow, and I didn’t even apply primer beforehand for this.

32 The vivid pigments are intense and exactly as seen on the palette itself, which is why I didn’t bother doing any swatches as it wasn’t necessary.

The eyeshadow on it’s own was slightly creamy, which made application really easy and smooth. The palette comes with a mirror and two applicator brushes as well. I usually just use my fingers 😉

The only con for me is it has a slightly perfume-y smell when you open the palette, which I am not a fan of. But the smell is not there upon application, so that isn’t really an issue.

I’m considering bringing this palette in to sell as well. Anyone interested, do let me know 🙂

While looking for accessories for a wedding I was attending, I came across this gem of an online store, Urban Aura Signature selling beautiful Indian accessories and fell head over heels in love with just about everything! So much so, I went on a shopping spree and decided to review the items I purchased.

First item on my review list, is this absolutely gorgeous nickel free, pearl choker and jhumka set. I’m a sucker for anything traditionally Indian as well as classic. Personally, I’ve always wanted a set like this, plain gold with pearl details. I just can’t seem to get enough of anything with pearls on it!

I love how the design is suitable to be worn with almost any of my traditional Indian outfits as it’s simplicity and basic colours blends with just about any look. Urban Aura Signature has a large range of sets and pieces like this. I was tempted to get quite a few but had to stop myself. But look how pretty!

Each set comes with a different price tag, to inquire you can just message them online and they will get back to you promptly! (All times I’ve messaged them, I get replies within minutes!)

The second item is the Terra Jhumka. It’s made of clay and is completely handmade so bare in mind that it will not come out 100% perfect. However it is so beautifully crafted piece by piece, and takes a minimum of 48 hours for the entire process, if it’s during summer. At other times, it takes up to 4 to 5 days. These type of earrings, can be worn with both traditional and modern clothes as it has a unique look to it. The fact that it comes in so many shapes and sizes, as well as a large array of colours allows you to pick one that is most suited to your taste.

And lastly, bindis! No Indian costume is complete without this beauty mark on the forehead. I don’t usually wear bindis unless on special occassions but these I absolutely had to have. Ever been in a situation where you wanted to wear a nice, coloured bindi for prayers or temple but only had ones with stone work and you just didn’t want to overdo it? These subtle designs are both funky and casual, so you can still be stylish without overdoing it. Also, if you do some really intense make up, these bindis will compliment the look and not make you look overdone.

Also, I love how I can turn the large circle ones into moon designs like I did in this tutorial ; DIY Moon Bindis.

It comes packed in double sheets for each design/size (1 dozen per pack of assorted design/size of multicolor bindis). It comes in circle, oval, diamond & dewdrop shapes and also a variety of sizes so you can pick the size that suits your face best.

Besides these, I also pre-ordered these designs for Diwali!;

Do check out their beautiful designs and collections at Urban Aura Signature Facebook page. Trust me, you won’t regret it! (Your wallet might though because you’ll end up wanting to buy everything ;))

Hindu Art Fusions.

I love social media and how it connects me to some incredibly talented people. This girl commented on my dreamcatchers on Instagram, which is how I found Arini from Indonesia who is obsessed with the Indian culture and infuses it in all her artwork. She does cartoon-like drawings of Hindu gods as well as fusions like The Indian Little Mermaid and other Disney Princesses.

Since we loved each others artwork, we decided to do a trade (dreamcatchers for drawings) & this is what she came up with;

Untitled-1  & this gorgeous hand-drawn and colour penciled artwork of Lord Ganesha with Deeper Than Fashion dreamcatchers.

Check out her complete set of artwork here ; Art-rinay Illustrations. She’s open to custom orders too 🙂

On a completely unrelated note (or maybe somewhat related due to Lord Ganesha), I found this really nice plain white tee white Lord Ganesha printed on it for RM19 & decided to tie dye it. The end result;

A friend of mine, Sheila Khan whom I’ve known for quite sometime now, recently became a beauty consultant at Mary Kay. I’ve heard of Mary Kay but never really got around trying to trying their products, but thanks to Sheila, I had the opportunity to try it out! For free!

I trust Sheila when it comes to skincare and beauty, only because she has amazing skin and she’s a complete genius in terms of makeup. Also, she’s probably the most non-kedekut ilmu person I know of in terms of sharing what she knows. When she asked me if I’d like to come in for a free trial I was more than happy to oblige.

At first, I was a bit skeptical about the ‘free’ bit. Nothing is ever free, and I was pretty sure they were going to try to talk me into buying something or signing up, but I was happy to find out I was very wrong. Sheila and her mentor, Nurul sat there and taught me how to do basic skincare and some makeup tricks without even trying to sell me anything.

It started with them checking my skin type and providing me with Mary Kay skincare products to try. I was taught the proper way to cleanse, moisturize and mask my face (I’ve been doing it wrong all my life!) and right after, I was taught some basic makeup skills. It was basically a self-pampering session and beauty makeover (for free!).

I won’t reveal much, as I feel like everyone should try it out for themselves. But I will share with you a few of my favourite products and makeover look;

I’m currently trying the whole range of Botanical Effects Skin Care, so I’ll review on if it works for me or not after trying it out. But for now, the makeup stuff that I really, really fell in love with are these;

– Brow Gel. It’s basically a gel with a mascara-like wand that helps keep your eyebrows neat and make it look like you’ve threaded it. I hadn’t done my threading yet, but the after effect was amazing!
– Lace Coral Blusher. This triples as a blusher, highlighter as well as bronzer. I’m obsessing over the colour and texture. Perfect for most skintones.
– Love Lash Waterproof Mascara. I already have long lashes, but this mascara is perfect for me. It adds just the right amount of volume and helps it curl, as well as seperates it to make it look full. For those with shorter lashes, can always use the Lash Primer before using the mascara.

This is how the Love Lash Waterproof Mascara over the Lash Primer looks like, along with the Lace Coral Blusher, Brow Gel and eyeshadow from Mary Kay;

It was a good learning experience overall. A self-pampering session that I gained knowledge on how my skin works, as well as how to take care of it and a make over. It’s always amazing to look good on the outside, since it makes you feel good on the inside.

If anyone of you is interested in going for a free basic skincare and makeup session with Mary Kay, drop me an email with your name & handphone number to; deeperthanfashion@hotmail.com & I’ll refer you to my beauty consultant who not only will teach you but also, have fun doing it! 🙂
