I’m the least athletic person I know. Dancing the night away in heels, or walking around the shopping complex is the most exercise I do. Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, I do a half an hour walk from the LRT station to my office daily, but that’s about all the workout I do. But when my bestfriend-lover-person told me about The Music Run, I absolutely had to be a part of it.
The Music Run, that was held at the Selangor Turf Club was an interactive 5km fun running experience. No time clock, no training routine, no judging!; I was sold to the idea of walking to good music since that is exactly what I do when I walk to work, listen to music 🙂
With five different music genres, 5 zones across five kilometers; we made it!
My first marathon event. I didn’t exactly run, and walked through most of it but I’m proud of the fact I took the effort to walk 5km (& hardly felt it because of the amazing person next to me and the conversations we had).
Right after we finished The Music Run, we had another event we were looking forward to, SDS Holi at the Shree Lakshme Narayanan Temple.
Holi is a spring festival also known as the festival of colours and the festival of love. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival which has become popular with non-Hindus in many parts of South Asia, as well as people of other communities. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships. (Yes, straight off Wikipedia)
We went there clad in full white, not quite sure what to expect but ended up having a fantastic time;
Everyone looked like walking pieces of rainbow art due to the colourful powder thrown on them. So many different people, from different religions and walks of life, throwing coloured powder on each other, playing with water, dancing to really good bhangra, and just having a really good time.
& of course, since I had my face in colours of the rainbow, selfies were a must;
I can’t wait for next year’s Holi festival!
Even if the colour did end up staining my skin, and I look like I’ve been abuse, it was well worth it :3
