Septum rings have been around since centuries, dating back to several cultures including Indian culture. From rural parts of India, Nepal and so on, to the high fashion pages of magazines, septum rings seem to be a hit with celebrities like Lady Gaga & Rihanna (both of whom I love in term of style);
I needed to give the look a try but didn’t want to invest in a real one, or an expensive faux one. DIY it was, & it was super easy to make as well;
I used an old midi ring I never used before ( I think it’s from H&M), some silver beads & UHU glue.
Step One: I cut the midi ring and adjusted it to see how it would fit to look good as a septum ring.
Step Two: Once I was happy with the size, I added a few beads to the middle of it & added two beads (with UHU glue) to cover up the opening so it wouldn’t be sharp.
Step Three: I left it to dry overnight, and that was it! 🙂
I tried on several ways to style my personal look with the septum ring I made, including using bindis. This is another classic Indian style that seems to be making a re-apperance in the fashion world;
This post seems to be focusing on quite a number of trends, & it doesn’t stop here. This one includes a makeup trend called the Bling Brow. It’s basically self-adhesive crystals that is used either above, under or on the eyebrows to add some glam to your eye makeup. The price however, is really steep.
My alternative? Bindis! It’s the same concept. In fact, Indian brides have been doing this since forever. I had previously purchased two packs of bindis for RM10 each, from Brickfields;If the adhesive at the back isn’t sticky anymore, you can add some eyelash glue and re-use it again.
& now I absolutely need to get proper faux septum rings. I can’t wait to rock this look 🙂

As much as I love to create magic, I like finding pieces of magic or as I’d like to call them my ‘travel treasures’ to share on Deeper Than Fashion. These elephant treasures were definitely a crowd favourite;
Double Elephant Bracelets &;
Ele Hug rings. How cute are these elephant rings that wrap around your finger, giving it a little hug?! 🙂
I also managed to find pieces that I can infuse into my own creations. Like this cameo Ganesha; & of course, no post is complete without my customised Ganesha dreamcatchers. These have been a constant hit and the orders for these haven’t slowed down one bit;
Sometimes I get orders without a price limit & I can let my creativity fully take over. Like I did with this gold Ganesha piece;
The blessings keep coming in abundance & I’d like to take a moment to thank the Universe for all it’s blessings.

Having done over hundred of dreamcatchers, there are always themes that seem to make me want to recreate them in a different way. Here was a previous Yin & Yang design I worked on.
The concept was fairly simple, but I handpainted the feathers to look like the beautiful symbol;It’s been long overdue & this design has been swimming around in my head for awhile now, I finally took the time to create it. My revamped Yin & Yang dreamcatcher;
The Yin & Yang is an ancient symbol of balance and harmony. I used two healing crystal beads for this design. A moonstone and a labradorite (both my favourites!).
The moonstone enhances intuition. promotes inspiration, brings success in love and business & the labradorite is known to enhance strength of will and helps assist when faced with changes as well as challenges.
Can’t wait to start using more healing crystals and gemstones in my work. I love how it has more meaning and purpose behind it than it being just wearable art.

I try to incorporate the vibrancy, culture and sense of heritage into my art and jewelry. I love being able to create fusions, mixing modern contemporary pieces with hints of tradition.
Inspired by the beauty of Indian culture while keeping the designs relevant and wearable on a day to day basis I created a signature piece to incorporate as many elements of the Hindu Gods & Goddesses as I could;
Ganesha charm, peacock feather to represent Lord Muruga, lotus to represent Goddess Lakshmi,Durga and Saraswati, Rudraksha bead for Lord Shiva & an ohm symbol representing both the unmanifest and manifest aspect of God.

As tradition would have it at Deeper Than Fashion, every year for Deepavali I release a collection inspired by the colours, elements and beauty of the festive holiday.
Of course, my collection wouldn’t be complete without my signature and original designs of the Indian Dreamcatcher. This time I took it one step further by incorporating designs of Hindu goddesses into them because every girl, is a goddess.
These are the beautiful pieces that emerged from the ideas in my head. I couldn’t be happier of how they turned out;
Indian Mermaid Goddess Dreamcatcher.
Handmade: Gold intricate designs + Mandala beading in shades of purple and blue + pearl & coin detailing + goddess Lakshmi charm.
Indian Pink&Purple Goddess Dreamcatcher.
Handmade: Gold intricate designs + Mandala beading in shades of purple and pink + dangling rhinestone details + goddess Lakshmi charm.
Indian Rainbow Goddess Dreamcatcher.
Handmade: Gold intricate designs + Mandala beading in gold with rainbow Swarovski crystals + pearl & coin detailing + goddess Lakshmi charm.Indian Pearl Goddess Dreamcatcher.
Handmade: Gold intricate designs + Mandala beading in gold with glass pearls+ dangling intricate gold design + pearl & coin details.
& since the last one didn’t have a goddess charm on it, the special person who bought it gets to be the goddess instead. I shamelessly was for a bit;

Creativity is something that is very subjective to me and my creative process is… to be honest, I don’t have one. I’m merely just enjoying the journey and see where it takes me.
I enjoy picking little knick-knacks and materials whenever I see them, things that I find fascinating & fall in love with; not knowing what I’m going to do with it and letting it inspire me when the time comes. I have charms and materials stored for months before I eventually use them.
I fall in love with ideas before they even hit me. Falling in love, knowing I won’t fall out of it.
I hope for everyone to find love like that. Exciting, inspiring, comforting, fulfilling, bliss.
I come across my designs by chance a lot of time. I make mistakes, recreate and learn from it. Some of my designs may come across a little ‘raw’. Slightly imperfect, and very much handmade. Definitely full of love, hard-work and good vibes.
I work at my own pace, no pressure, in my own rainbow bubble of happy. I believe emotions reflect in your art.
With no compromises in quality and focusing in what my idea of wearable art should be, I constantly evolve in terms of materials used, designs and inspiration. There’s no limitations, just a special sense of freedom, constantly enabling me to progress and feed my soul.
Being able to design wearable art or accessories has given me the ability and creative outlet to turn my daydreaming and inspirations into a reality.
& this, is the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.
