DIY: Valentine’s Day Paper Fortune Cookies.

Browsing through an old craft blog I created, I stumbled upon this tutorial that I published 5 years ago. Valentine’s Day fortune cookies!

I made these as little party favours & decided I’d share it here as well. 1Step One: Choose the colour you want your paper cookie to be. I usually use textured brown paper, to make it look more realistic but since it’s for Valentine’s Day, I opted for pink instead. 2Step Two: Draw a circle onto the paper. The bigger the circle, the bigger the cookie. I used a mini Starbucks cup to get the circle because I wanted mine small. 3Step Three: Cut it out. Fold the circle in half, make sure you do not crumple or mess up the circle. 4Step Four: Hold the paper as shown in the picture. Make sure you do not press it down.56Step Five: Bring the two end sides together. When you do that, the middle part will fold in. If you want it to look more realistic, fold it slightly the off center, so it won’t be too perfect. I did mine right in the middle be & it’ll look like this: 78Step Six: Cut a strip of paper to write your fortune/love note on (mine was along the lines of “You are so lucky you have me!”) 😛 Make sure it’s small enough to fit inside the fortune cookie & long enough to be pulled out of it.910Step Seven: Place the note inside & try bending to see how it looks like. Once satisfied, glue it down. 11Step Eight: Leave it to dry and then you are done! You can also create a little takeout box to put it in like this:12These are a great idea for a Chinese theme party, get together(s) & your options are only limited to your imagination!

Walt Disney once said “If you can dream it, you can do it” & that applies perfectly to my creations.

Being a Disney kid myself, I had to come up with a tribute collection to all the dreams contributed & magic Disney brought to my childhood (and adulthood too!). You are never too old for Disney. Ever. *sprinkles magic fairy dust*

I’ve been planning out strategically on what my Christmas Collection for Deeper Than Fashion will be, due to previously being super busy for Deepavali, I was unable to deliver my best.

So here I am prepping a month ahead, hoping to bring some Christmas joy to those who’d like to purchase some handmade goodies for their home or even as gifts.

The first of my Christmas Collection are these Wine Charms;

A wine charm is basically a stylish way to identify your wine glass. Ever placed your wine glass on a table and someone else places theirs, then you are unsure which is yours and have to get a new glass? With these wine charms, you not only can identify your glass as each has a different colour wave and design, but it also adds some Christmasy glam to it.

I love small details when it comes to decor, because it really plays a big part. And these, are perfect addition to a family dinner;

DIY Rainbow Heart Crayons.

I’m shifting everything from my old blog to my new website, so bear with me if you’ve already seen this before.
Also, some of you may have seen these tutorials online before, but I decided to do a “Malaysian”-fied version of it which makes it easier for you to get the stuff to make this.
I made these on a budget of RM10. I kid you not, RM10! I got crayons for Rm5 & the heart shaped silicone mold for Rm5. Both for Daiso, Sunway Pyramid.

What you need to do is basically chop up the crayons into small bits. I colour separated them so I could coordinate when I placed them in the mold. I put one chunk of each colour in the molds to make sure it turns out rainbow-y 🙂

Then you’ll need to microwave it.  Most blogs recommend using a baking oven, but a microwave works just as well.
I suggest you keep a close eye on the melting process. I did one minute per session, and keep going until it melted nicely. You’ll know because the chunks will turn into a watery paint like substance.

& this is what it looks like right after I took it out of the microwave. Super pretty blended colours!  But it’ll be real hot, so you will need to place it in the freezer for 5 minutes.

Once you take it out of the freezer, you can pop it right out (like you would with ice cubes) & it’ll look like this;

Seriously, how pretty are these! & so cheap and easy to make! You can use them to write as well, like normal crayons but you get a blend of rainbow colours 🙂 Not only do they make really cute gifts, but it’s a fun activity to do with kids or can be even used as accessories.
Good luck making these! (you won’t need it since it’s super easy anyways 😉
