My weekends are reserved mostly for updating this website, working on accessories, taking pictures of them and having to cue them for sales the following week. Running your own business and being a perfectionist means having do everything yourself from scratch. As much as it’s tiring, I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way 🙂

That also means limited time to go out to get my hair done. I was beyond thrilled when Supermodels Secrets stocked up on Manic Panic semi-permanent hair dye. Before getting my hair coloured, I read up many articles on hair dyes and most sites recommend Manic Panic. This was a perfect opportunity for me to try it out;z3iu

Staying true to my mermaid self, I opted for turquoise & purple yet again. But this time, I was going to do it myself. The end result, was fairly impressive (if I do say so myself);

I previously had it bleached professionally and the tedious part about coloured hair is that it fades really quick. So glad I now have these jars of Manic Panic hair dye to last me quite awhile. It’s quite messy to do on my own, but I’ll manage 🙂 Gloves, an old towel and a t-shirt you don’t mind messing up are essential.

Of course along with the Manic Panic hair dye, I was tempted to buy other beauty and makeup products as well. This time around I got makeup palettes (my old one broke) and a set of brushes. IMG_20141116_163957I had to have these once I saw them because I constantly need to come up with new makeup ideas and creative makeup for shoots, even if its something as simple as taking pictures of myself in the accessories I need to upload for sale. Yes, I’m my own brand model and makeup artist as well 😉 Jane of all trades, is I!

This week I worked on a simple mermaid inspired look for the intricate coral necklaces I had in store. The pigments from the eyeshadow was amazing once I applied two layers (one was too light on my skin!), however it lasted really long. The brushes were super soft and gentle on my skin!

The end look; IMG_20141116_163451Besides the mermaid inspired eye makeup and nude lips, I stuck on pearl detailing to the side of my face for a more glam mermaid feel. To blend it in, I softly brushed on silver eyeshadow;  IMG_20141116_163238IMG_20141116_163412The whole look worked perfectly with the jewelry; PhotoGrid_1416127410022PhotoGrid_1416127353571

Halloween is the perfect occasion to play dress up & that is something I absolutely love. Themed parties, costume parties, anything that requires some form of artistic make-up really gets my creative juices flowing.

This year I decided to try something a little more spooky, hence this was the end result;
210672366_10152471766642058_7851596321345382913_nSkull makeup that took 15minutes; just fair foundation & pencil eyeliner accompanied by alot of smudging, with full on accessories including the Skeleton hand bracelet I was selling a year before. For my full outfit? This;1The outfit I made for my final collection during college. One of my favourite designs I’ve ever done.

& I spent my Halloween with the beautiful bestfriendloverperson Atie as a female Beetlejuice;

With Diwali being around the corner, I decided to get crafty and create my own signature pieces for my home decorations. I usually work on small details and aspects of design that I hope makes a big difference.

Last year I made my own DIY Rhinestone kollam, this year I decided to reuse the kollam but add in more colours by adding handpainted oil lamps. Light is significant in Hinduism as it signifies goodness. Hence during the Festival of Light (Diwali) oil lamps are lit.

Plain clay oil lamps can be found in many Indian stores, especially around Klang or Brickfields (where I got mine!) are so easy to find. It was fun using a different medium as a canvas to channel my art. The end results were satisfying 🙂

Of colours & doodles;

IMG_20141014_231225IMG_20141016_234322IMG_20141014_234159 I was worried about using oil as it would ruin all that hard work, so I used tealight candles instead. I also attempted to turn mason jars into candle holders/lantern.

I got plain jars, then tinted them in colours of my choice & proceeded to doodles on them as well. Here’s a sample of one of it I tinted in emerald green and doodles with gold;554495_825675027485351_2749005704224037176_nThis however was a tricky DIY that took a lot of effort and time. Also, the colouring process is incredibly messy. I ended up with tie-dye coloured hands for a day or two.

But hey, who’s complaining? Rainbow hands 🙂

Last year around this time, I blogged about how I turned a pack of bindis/pottus into moon shaped ones (CLICK ME! for the tutorial).

I still have the same batch of bindis lying around, and decided it was time to get crafty yet again. This time, with some colour & bling!

Let’s start off with some colour;

IMG_20141012_000347 All you need is the nail polish colours of your choice and a pack of plain bindis. Just colour the bindis with the nail polish and leave them to dry fully. Keep in mind that lighter colours require several layers, so this has to be done a few days in advance before you get to wear it. What a cute way to match your bindis to your outfits and even, nails 😉

& now, for some bling-bling!

IMG_20141012_000657Paint a coat of nail polish over the plain bindi & sprinkle glitter on it. Press it down to make sure the glitter sticks well to the polish. Leave it to dry, after which you add another layer of nail polish on the glitter to keep it from falling off.

Another one you can try is:

IMG_20141012_000500Same method as the previous one applies. Just paint one layer of nail polish onto the bindi, and immediately paste embellishments on it. I absolutely love pearls and haven’t found nice pearl bindis, so this was a perfect way I could do it myself! For this however, I wouldn’t recommend going over it again with another layer of nail polish unless you want it extra shiny.

This way you get to have an entire revamped bindi set of your own without spending (or hardly spending!) any money 🙂 Definitely my favourite kind of DIYs 😉

Lord Ganesha is probably one of the best-known and worshipped Hindu gods. Others may know him as the elephant god as Ganesha has an elephant’s head. Being the remover of obstacles, I’ve always had a personal liking to Ganesha especially since my mom would make an effort to make a stop at the Ganesha temple every morning before going to work, or my dad would always drive past the temple to pray in whenever he left the house. Ganesha has always been a favourite in my household, and that rubbed off on me.

I’m probably not the most religious person, but I believe that my prayers and thoughts on it are between me and god. This however is a completely different story all together. Coming back to Ganesha, I’ve made dreamcatchers incorporating him in them and the response has been overwhelming. I take this as a sign of blessing;IMG_20140904_135800IMG_20140904_153236IMG_20141028_230053I love how I was able to incorporate something that was significant to my life and learn that it was equally as significant to others. The first one I made was completely by chance (exactly how most of my designs come to life) and I am so happy to have had this idea come to me.

Backless Dresses & Stick on Bras.

Backless-strapless-stick on bras. I’ve always been reluctant to give them a try. Why? Because what if they don’t stick properly or worse *gasp* fall off in public! Imagine that nightmare and at that point there’s really nothing you can do about it. All these scary thoughts crowd my head when I was even considering that option, which is why I never wore anything backless, until I had to.

When being a bridesmaid at a friend’s wedding, you don’t get to choose your own dress. & I was giving the prettiest pale yellow versatile dress (the one that can be tied in so many different ways). Due to the material and ways to tie it, I had to give stick on bras a  chance & I’m thrilled I did!

I opted for a toga style, this was the outcome;

10313542_10152118963732058_1799370978130332977_n10271537_10152118963597058_7387877954514056201_nCompletely backless! The best part, completely secure too! 😀
Being an avid (slight addicted) shopper at Supermodel’s Secrets, I emailed them regarding their stick on bras and asked them for their opinion and my options. After which I finally decided on the 3D padded push up Ultralite Nubra. Not only does it last and sticks on fantastically, it also gives some form of support and boost to the bust.

After trying it out and falling love (hello backless dresses!), I ended up buying two more!;

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOne plain black one which is really practical, and another one in white with lace design for a little extra sexy. It’s comfortable and sticks on really well. When I first touched it and found it really sticky, I was worried it would hurt when you remove it but didn’t feel a thing. *insert thumbs ups here*
